Arsenal Hammered by Liverpool
Arsene Wenger has a lot to think about after the humiliating 4-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield in the 3rd round of the Premier League. It’s not only about the result, but the performance of The Gunners can be described with only one word – “awful”! The players of Liverpool looked faster, stronger, better! The tactics of Arsenal looked completely wrong. In addition, Arsenal couldn’t find the target even once in the match. The Arsene Wenger’s men made 6 attempts, and all of them went wide.
Petr Cech saved a lot of goal-scoring chances, but he had nothing to do with the 4 situations, in which the Liverpool players found his net. Firstly, he made a wonderful save against Mohamed Salah, who made a shot from about a couple of metres. However, Roberto Firmino scored the first goal for Liverpool in the 17th minute. Then, the Egyptian forward Salah found the net but his goal was disallowed because of an offside. 5 minutes before the break Sadio Mane showed a great piece of skills and put the ball into the Cech’s net for the second time in the match.
The picture didn’t change in the second half. The players of Arsenal seemed to be very tired, because they were totally outplayed by the fresh Liverpool forwards. The defenders of The Gunners committed a lot of mistakes, hardly managing to take the ball out of their half. In the 57th minute Mohamed Salah finally managed to score. His fast pace made him appear in an one-on-one position with Petr Cech and Salah had no problems to fins the net. 3-0!
Arsene Wenger reacted immediately and he brought on Alexandre Lacazette and Olivier Giroud in the 62nd minute, but the confidence of the Liverpool players were already too big and the forwards of The Gunners had no chance to show what they can. Daniel Sturridge scored the 4th goal for Liverpool in the 77th minute, just 3 minutes after he appeared on the pitch.
That was the second consecutive game, in which Liverpool players score 4 goals! The Reds have collected 7 points in 3 matches in The Premier League and secured their participation in the group stage of The Champions League. Just on the opposite, The Gunners left with 3 points of 3 matches and Arsene Wenger has a lot to think about, in order to change the performance of Arsenal.
