Arsenal vs. Manchester City | The Preview
Arsenal must do their best until the end of the season and win as much points as they can. Otherwise, The Gunners are risking not to qualify for The Champions League for the first time since 1997! The Arsene Wenger’s players are lying in 6th position, 6 points behind the 4th-placed Liverpool. In addition, The Gunners have recently recorded some bad results.
A couple of weeks ago, Arsenal lost 1-3 to West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns. The Gunners performed awfully in defence. That was their 6th defeat in their last 9 competitive games. The fans will hardly forget the humiliating 2-10 defeat on aggregate to Bayern Munich in The Champions League. The 5-0 victory against Lincoln City in The FA Cup couldn’t relieve the pressure from Wenger’s players and they are now maybe mentally hampered. That’s the main advantage for Manchester City in the upcoming game.
On the other hand, The Citizens aren’t also in their best form. The Pep Guardiola’s players were eliminated from The Champions League after a 1-3 defeat to Monaco in the second leg of the Round of 16. In the last Premier League round, Manchester City recorded a 1-1 draw at The Etihad Stadium against Liverpool, which minimized their chance to fight for the title.
To continue with, the Arsenal’s goalkeeper Petr Cech received a calf injury during the last Gunners’ match against West Bromwich Albion, and is going to miss the match. So, David Ospina will be among the starting XI. Bacary Sagna of Manchester City has a groin injury and will be sidelined. Kevin De Bruyne and Pablo Zabaleta are doubtful and will surely pass a late fitness test.
The Gunners have a big advantage when playing Man City at home. They have won 48 matches in London against The Citizens. There have also been 20 draws and 10 victories for Manchester City. So, the Pep Guardiola’s players usually struggle when visiting Arsenal. Furthermore, The Gunners are very strong at home in The Premier League, as they have won 9 of 13 matches, having only lost twice. However, Manchester City beat Arsenal 2-1 earlier this season at The Etihad Stadium and they will try to do it again.
At both ends, the strengths are pretty equal and the game seems to be unpredictable before the start of it. However, I expect a lot of goals in the match, so I would pick the option of “over” or “both teams to score”.
