The Championship | 36th Round Preview

Birmingham City vs. Wigan Athletic

After 6 defeats in Birmingham City’s last 8 Championship games, The Blues are now lying in 17th position with 43 points collected. The Gianfranco Zola’s players have won 4 of their 6 home games against The Latics. In my opinion, The Blues are finally going to win and make the life even more difficult for Wigan Athletic!

Prediction: 1 (2.30);

Blackburn Rovers vs. Cardiff City

Rovers are on a run of two consecutive 1-0 victories at Ewood Park. They finally saw themselves out of the dangerous zone! In addition, Blackburn have only lost 6 of their 18 home games this season. Moreover, The Riversiders have lost 1 of their last 6 league matches!

We should also take a look at Cardiff City’s performance since the appointment of Neil Warnock. He has a record of 11-5-9, which is not a bad stat. However, I think the outcome is going to be 1X (double chance).

Prediction: 1X double chance (1.44);

Bristol City vs. Norwich City

The Robins will surely be without their top goal-scorer Abraham, who missed the last 4 competitive games for his team. Tammy Abraham has scored almost the half of all Bristol City’s goals this season. However, he may sit on the bench against Norwich, but I don’t think the manager Lee Johnson will risk him.

On the other hand, Norwich City have been awful when playing away from home this season. The Canaries have only won once in their last 12 visits! The Alex Neil’s players still have a chance to find a place among the Top 6, but they are obligated to win the match against the involved in the relegation battle Bristol City. The Canaries have won the last 3 matches between these two teams and I think they will do it again!

Prediction: 2 (2.55);

Derby County vs. Preston North End

The Rams struggle to show their real potential, as they drop a lot of points against the weaker teams. That’s why they are lying in 10th position and their chances to make it to the playoffs are minor. However, I think they haven’t given up and will try to win everything possible until the end of the season.

To continue with, Preston North End seem to be an easy opponent for The Rams, as Derby County have won 5 of the last 6 games between these two teams. We should also mention that the visitors haven’t recorded an away victory in their last 5 matches in The Championship.

Prediction: 1 (1.95);

Fulham vs. Leeds United

Fulham’s difficult schedule until the end of the campaign starts with a home match against maybe one of the teams, which will make it to the playoffs. However, The Cottagers are in an incredible form, having won 13 points in their last 6 league games.

The strengths are totally equal, as the last 21 games between these two teams have finished with a record of 7 – 7 – 7. So, I think a draw would be a fair result.

Prediction: X (4.00);

Huddersfield Town vs. Aston Villa

The Terriers have almost cleaned up their way to the playoffs after incredible recent results. They won their games against some of their main competitors, winning vs. Brighton, Leeds and Reading. However, Huddersfield Town couldn’t record a victory in their last 2 Championship matches.

On the other hand, The Terriers have always had difficulties when playing against The Villains. The total record of the matches between these two teams is: 16 – 16 – 21.

Prediction: X (3.30);

Ipswich Town vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers X2 (1.45)

Nottingham Forest vs. Brentford 1 (2.55)

Queens Park Rangers vs. Barnsley X2 (1.75)

Rotherham United vs. Brighton & Hove Albion 2 (1.50)

Reading vs. Newcastle United 1X (1.83)
