England Spain football

Late drama at Wembley

To begin with, not a bad performance from England last night! We started really well and in the 9th minute of the match Jamie Vardy was awarded a penalty after he acted really accurately in the Spain’s box. Adam Lallana converted it into a goal and we took the lead! The Garteh Southgate’s strategy was based on fast counter attacks. And it was a really smart one and made the Spaniards make a lot of mistakes. Unfortunately, the Liverpool player Lallana received an injury in the 27th minute and Theo Walcott replaced him.

The Spaniards created only one good goal-scoring chance until the end of the first half, but it was missed by Vitolo. However, after the break The Three Lions continued to perform at the same good level, and Vardy scored a wonderful goal with his head to double the score! Then, La Furia Roja started to look stronger on the pitch. But, we were extremely unlucky to concede two goals in the very last minutes of the game… At both ends, we have to be happy with the performance of the players, who took part in the game, because they showed they are classy and played really good against one of the best teams in the world.

However, the performance England players have shown is satisfying enough! In addition, we are unbeaten in the qualifying group. In addition, the 3-0 victory against Scotland at home was a massive one and helped us keep the leading position in the table. So, I think the FA should give Gareth Southgate a chance, because he has already proven he is a good football manager.

Even though, we conceded 2 goals, I am an optimist for the future of the English national team, because the performance was really good. Furthermore, we will have no problems to reach the World Cup finals in 2018. But, can we finally win the World Cup again? For sure, we are competitive enough. Moreover, these players are now more experienced and they have enough time to pull together even better.

Our next match is on 22nd March 2017 against Germany in a friendly. And I expect to see even better English team. That is the right way for development! If we keep playing like that, we can dream about lifting the trophy again!

In conclusion, we will see whether Southgate will stay on the position. He has the needed experience and deserves the chance to prove he is good enough to be the manager of The Three Lions.
