Famous Football Players’ Sons

It’s not surprising that the sons of the legendary football players from the near past have decided to follow the steps of their fathers. No matter how hard is to reach the glory of a world class footballer, these youngsters have decided to try their luck.

The first 3 players I am going to introduce to you are currently in the squad of Fiorentina. Federico Chiesa is Enrico Chiesa’s son. He is 19 years old and has already one season in The Serie A for The Lilies. Federico scored 4 goals in 34 appearances last season and will probably soon become one of the key players in the squad. His father also played for Fiorentina between 1999 and 2002, scoring 34 goals in 59 Serie A matches.

The other two youngsters, who are a part of Fiorentina are Giovanni Simeone (Cholito) and Ianis Hagi. Cholito is Diego Simeone’s son, but Giovanni is playing as a striker, unlike his father who was one of the best defensive midfielders. Ianis is the son of the legendary Romanian international player Gheorghe Hagi. He is only 18 years old and is an attacking midfielder.

Justin Kluivert plays for Ajax. We all remember his father Patrick, who also started his bright career in Amsterdam. This will be Justin’s second season in the professional football. In the previous campaign he scored twice in the Eredivisie and was on the bench in the Europa League final.

Can you guess whose son is Rivaldinho? Yes, that’s Rivaldo’s son. Surprisingly, the forward plays for Dinamo Bucharest. I recently saw him scoring a magnificent goal in the Europa League against Athletic Bilbao. Unfortunately, his team was knocked out of the competition. It’s interesting that both Rivaldo and Rivaldinho scored in one match for Mogi Mirim in July 2015.

The other players I would like to mention are: Enzo Fernandez (Zinedine Zidane’s son), Christian Maldini (Paolo Maldini), Luka Zahovic (Zlatko Zahovic), Niall Keown (Martin Keown) and Marcus Thuram (Lilian Thuram). Enzo has recently moved from Real Madrid to Alaves. He has scored one goal in a cup game for Los Blancos last season. Christian Maldini has still not proved he has the qualities of his father. Luka Zahovic may even surpass his father. Marcus Thuram is a striker with an extremely low goal-scoring rate. However, they are still too young and only time can show us what will happen with them.
