Incredible Show | StarSixes Tournament
12 teams, 120 football super stars from the near past have started to play in this incredible competition – Star Sixes. The tournament is held in London and we can see many retired players, showing great skills on the pitch again. There are 3 groups, 4 teams each. The best two teams in each group will head to the quarterfinals. The worst third-placed team will be eliminated. The duration of each game is 20 minutes, but we must say that the pace is quite intensive, so 20 minutes are pretty enough.
To continue with, England already played their first game against Spain. We lost it 1-4, but I was really happy to see Michael Owen scoring again! He opened the score for the Three Lions, but The Spaniards turned things around and won the three points. The other players in England’s squad are the goalkeeper David James, the defenders Luke Young, Wes Brown and Phil Neville. Steven Gerrard, Paul Merson, Danny Murphy and Lee Hendrie are the midfielders, while we can see Emile Heskey and Michael Owen up in front.
The other teams in England’s group are Spain, as we already mentioned, Scotland and Mexico. Spain and Scotland have already won 3 points, but there is still time for England to catch up them. Tonight, we are playing Scotland, in a game which we must win. Among the Scots’ squad we can stand out the names of Don Hutchison, Jackie McNamara, Paul Dickov, Barry Ferguson and many other good players from the near past.
The other 2 groups are also very interesting. In the group B, there are the teams of Brazil, Italy, Nigeria and China. The Brazilians won the derby match against Italy 2-1. Rivaldo, Belletti, Roberto Carlos and co. took the 3 points against Alessandro Del Piero, Ravanelli and Di Livio. In the other game of the group Nigeria won against China 3-2. The main player for the Nigerians is the former Portsmouth player Yakubu.
Germany won their game against France 4-3 after a lot of drama and turnarounds. The other two teams in that group are Portugal and Denmark. Surprisingly, the Danish players scored the most goals after the first round of the tournament – 6. They are topping the group, alongside with the Germans.
Tonight is going to be even more interesting! Here is the schedule:
- Spain vs. Mexico
