Juventus | Road To The Final

Juventus will play their 9th final in The Champions League. Unfortunately, The Old Lady has only won two of the previous 8 finals. The last time they made it to the most prestigious match in the European club competitions was in 2015, when they lost to Barcelona 1-3.

Against Spanish teams

The Massimiliano Allegri’s team has played against Spanish teams in the European club competitions on more than 50 occasions. The Old Lady recently smashed Real Madrid’s biggest rivals in Spain – Barcelona. However, now it will be even more difficult for the Italians in the final game.

When Juve plays against Los Blancos in the eliminations’ stages of The Champions League, Real Madrid have been knocked out on 4 out of 6 occasions. In addition, these two teams have already met in the final match (1998). The Old Lady lost this game 0-1. The only goal of the game was scored by the forward Mijatovic in the 66th minute. However, the Italians have won the final in the UEFA Cup in 1977 against another Spanish team – Athletic Bilbao.

Road to the final

Juventus had no problems to win the first place in their group. The Old Lady has one of the best defences in the competition. The Massimiliano Allegri have only conceded 3 goals in 12 matches! After winning 14 points from 6 games in the group stage against the teams of Dinamo Zagreb, Lyon and Sevilla, The White and Blacks met Porto in the Round of 16. Juve won the two games (3-0 on aggregate). In the quarterfinals, Juve smashed Barcelona 3-0 at home, then the Italians kept a clean sheet against the Catalans, finishing with a 0-0 draw.

To continue with, Juventus played Monaco in the semi-finals. The White and Blacks again easily won twice against The Monegasques. So, that’s how the Italians reached the most important match of the season – the final in The Champions League.

Injuries and bans

The coach of the Italian team will play his best footballers in the final game. It’s interesting that exactly Allegri has received a muscle injury in a friendly match. However, the manager will be there to support his players from the sidelines.

They’re used to playing in the final, so we are. We must accept that they will be the favourites, We must bring the trophy home! The most important thing is that we are optimistic. It won’t be easy to win the Champions League, but we will give our best!Massimiliano Allegri
