The Etihad Stadium

The Premier League | 14th round preview

The team in the best form – Chelsea are to visit another of the favourites for the Premier League title – Manchester City in the first match of the 14th round. The Blues are on a run of 7 consecutive victories in The Premiership. Furthermore, they have kept a clean sheet on 7 occasions in the league this campaign. The Citizens are lying in the 3rd position, just 1 point behind the leaders Chelsea. Josep Guardiola’s players have only lost once in The Premier League this season. In addition, The Blues have only won once against Manchester City in the last 9 matches at The Etihad Stadium. You can easily put your money on Manchester City not losing the match!

To continue with, the second game of the round is between the teams of Crystal Palace and Southampton. The Eagles are the team in the worst form in the league! Alan Pardew’s players have lost 6 consecutive matches! They are awful in defence, having conceded 17 goals in their last 5 games! However, The Saints will be a little bit more tired for the match against Palace, because Southampton are to play against Arsenal tonight! Moreover, Crystal Palace have won 11 of 22 home games against The Saints. The chances are 50 – 50, but I think it’s high time Palace win!

The Potters have recently been in a good form. They beat Watford 1-0 away from home last weekend and Stoke City are now looking for another victory to keep climbing up in the standings. Their opponents will be Burnley, who are awful when playing away! The Clarets have only won 1 point away from Turf Moor this season. They have lost 4 of 5 away matches in the league, having scored 1 goal! So, another win for the hosts is expected!

Another interesting clash will be between the teams of Sunderland and Leicester City. The champions again couldn’t record a victory, finishing with a 2-2 draw in the previous round against The Boro. The Foxes are closer to the relegation zone, than to the Top 6! A visit to The Stadium of Light has always been a difficult task. Leicester City have only won once against Sunderland away from home in the last 8 matches (and that happened in the last season)! Furthermore, Leicester City have still not recorded a win in The Premier League away from The King Power Stadium!

What’s happening? As I keep looking at the matches, I can only see the hosts winning their matches. In the next game, Tottenham Hotspur are to host Swansea City. The Spurs need the 3 points, in order to stick with the leaders. And this is the most certain home victory of the round! Tottenham have won 7 of 7 at White Hart Lane against The Swans! However, 6 of these 7 victories are with a one goal difference!

West Bromwich Albion will meet The Hornets. These two teams are “neighbors” in the standings. Watford usually struggle when visiting The Hawthorns, as The Hornets have lost 8 of 14 away matches against West Bromwich. However, the most logical result here will be a draw!

The Gunners are to visit West Ham United. Arsene Wenger’s players have won 5 of their last 6 visits to The Hammers. Furthermore, the last time Arsenal lost a match was 4 months ago (3-4 to Liverpool at home). It will be a difficult game to The Gunners, but they will surely leave with the 3 points.

The other matches of the 14th round: AFC Bournemouth vs. Liverpool; Everton vs. Manchester United (4th December) and Middlesbrough vs. Hull City (5th December).
