The Premiership | 25th Round Review
To begin with, The Gunners managed to take the 3 points against Hull City, beating The Tigers 2-0 at The Emirates Stadium. The Marco Silva’s players looked very strong on the pitch, but they couldn’t keep their sheet clean, being attacked by the fast Arsenal’s players. The first goal of the game was a controversial one, as Sanchez sent the ball into the net with his hand. However, the referee didn’t give a penalty to The Gunners a minute earlier, so I think the outcome was a fair one.
Manchester United showed a better face, winning the match against Watford at home. The Red Devils created lots of goal-scoring chances and deservedly won the game. Juan Mata opened the score in the 32nd minute after a magnificent combination in front of Watford’s goal. Anthony Martial settled the score to 2-0 in the 60th minute, securing the 3 points for the Jose Mourinho’s team.
To continue with, the situation in Crystal Palace has become even worse, as The Eagles keep losing games. This time, the Sam Allardyce’s players lost to Stoke City 0-1 away from home. There are still lots of matches until the end of the season, but if The Eagles keep playing like that they will eventually relegate.
After beating 4-0 Crystal Palace in the 24th round, now Sunderland lost by the same score to Southampton. The Saints were simply better on the pitch. They outplayed their opponents. The new signing Manolo Gabbiadini was on fire, scoring the first two goals of the game.
West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion finished with a 2-2 draw at the London Stadium. Nacer Chadli found the net in the 6th minute after showing great individual skills. However, The Hammers were able to turn things around to 2-1, but Gareth McAuley equalized in the last seconds of the added time.
The most interesting match of the 25th round was between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. The Reds recorded their first Premier League victory of 2017, and they did it with style. Sadio Mane was unstoppable, as the Senegalese bagged two goals in Tottenham’s net. He has now scored 11 goals in The Premier League this season. With the victory, Liverpool are again to be involved in the battle for the title!
The leaders Chelsea drew 1-1 with Burnley at Turf Moor. That wasn’t very surprising, as The Clarets are among the strongest hosts in the division, having won 29 of their 30 points at home! Pedro scored the goal for The Blues early in the game, but Robbie Brady equalized from a free-kick with his first goal for Burnley in The Premier League.
In the other two games, Middlesbrough and Everton finished with a 0-0 draw, while Swansea City can feel more secure after an astonishing 2-0 victory against Leicester City. The round ends tonight with Manchester City’s visit to Bournemouth.
