The Premier League | 7th round preview
It becomes even more interesting! The first 6 rounds of The Premier League are now in the history. But, the league has become more interesting and competitive than ever. All the teams seem to be strong enough to fight for the places in The Premier League.
Manchester City have shown the best performance so far. Pep Guardiola’s players have recorded 6 victories in 6 matches, which is a very impressive stat. Moreover, they have the best attack in the league (18 goals) and have only conceded 5 goals. The Citizens have now taken the lead in the tables with 18 points – 4 more than the second-placed Tottenham Hotspur. In addition, Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling are in incredible form. The Argentinian has scored 5 Premier League goals, while the Englishman has found the net on 4 occasions.
The battle for the Top 4 places is also very unpredictable, as Tottenham and Everton have made a great challenge to the other big clubs in the division – Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool. The Toffees have had their best start for about 20 years. They have recorded 4 victories and 1 draw in their first 6 league matches. In addition, they look strong enough to fight for the 4th position in the standings.
To continue with, Jurgen Klopp has done a brilliant job, as his team plays astonishing football from the beginning of the season. The Merseysiders have collected 13 points from their first six games. Moreover, they are not just taking the points, they are entertaining the fans! The proof is the victory against Hull City 5-1 at Anfield last Saturday. The Reds are playing fast and breathtaking football and if they keep going like that, they are able to compete for the title in The Premier League.
Arsenal also look stronger than in the previous season. Arsene Wenger’s players have more experience now and will surely be among the main contenders for the trophy. The Gunners shocked Chelsea 3-0 at The Emirates in the previous round, totally outplaying their opponents. Arsenal are now expected to have no problems against the newly promoted Burnley (one of the biggest underdogs in the league).
On the other hand, Sunderland and Stoke City are waiting for their first victories in the league this season. The Black Cats are to host West Bromwich Albion, while The Potters are to visit Old Trafford. David Moyes’ players were very close to the 3 points last weekend, but they were unlucky to lose to Crystal Palace 2-3 in the very last minute of the match, after being 2-0 up in the 60th minute.
Surprisingly, West Ham United have lost 5 of their first 6 matches in the league. The Hammers were smashed by Southampton 3-0 at home last weekend, and they are still in the relegation zone. Even though one of the greatest players nowadays – Dimitri Payet is in the squad, Slaven Bilic can’t find the right tactics for his team at the moment. But, the real problem for West Ham is in defence. The Hammers have conceded 16 goals in just 6 games, which goes to show that their defence is the worst in The Premier League. However, West Ham are now expected to beat Middlesbrough in the next round, and finally find their best form.
To conclude with, the champions Leicester City are really hesitant from the beginning of the season. The Foxes have lost 3 of their 6 matches, but they mustn’t be blamed, because they have plenty of new players in the squad. Moreover, Leicester are now focused on their performance in the group stage of The Champions League, in which they even recorded their first victory – 3-0 against Club Brugge of Belgium. The next match for The Foxes in The Premier League is against Southampton. It won’t be a surprising result if Leicester City lose again.
