Wenger Not Worried of the Expiring Contracts

The legendary French manager of The Gunners – Arsene Wenger seems not to be worried about the fact that the contracts of 7 of his best players are to expire within a year. Among the players in the list are Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Santi Cazorla, Kieran Gibbs and Mathieu Debuchy.

Even though the team finished in 5th position in The Premier League last season, Wenger has again built a very strong team, which can again compete for the title and seems to be among the best teams in the division. However, the victory in The FA Cup final probably saved Wenger’s job, which looked threatened in the last few years. Now, the Frenchman managed to sign Alexandre Lacazette and kept his best players at least for one more season. The Gunners’ bench looks pretty long, as Cazorla will return from his long term injury. Wilshere is back from his loan at Bournemouth. Joel Campbell is also back at the team.

The Gunners took part in the annual friendly tournament Emirates Cup, which they usually host. Arsenal and won the tournament. The other teams in the competition were RB Leipzig, Sevilla and Benifca. The Arsene Wenger’s men started with a game against Benfica. They totally outplayed the Portuguese champions, scoring 5 goals and creating a lot of goal-scoring chances. Theo Walcott proved that he is in a very good form, finding the Benfica’s net twice during the first half. In the other match of the competition Arsenal lost 1-2 to Sevilla, but The Gunners won the competition, because they scored more goals than the Spaniards. The positive thing from that game is that Alexandre Lacazette scored a goal and has probably boosted his confidence before the start of the season in The Premier League.

That’s not a problem for me! It’s an ideal situation. Why? Because each of them must give 100%, must prove his qualities again. You must be on the top of your skills until the very last day of your contract. Do you think that they stay in the locker room and think “Oh, that’s my last year here, I don’t have to bestir…”. Even if they decide to go in the end of their contract – that’s not a problem, that’s a normal thing.Arsene Wenger
