West Ham vs. Man City | EPL match preview
West Ham United are to host Manchester City in a game of the 23rd round in The Premier League. The Citizens are obligated to take the three points if they want to keep their title chances alive! Otherwise, Chelsea will maintain their lead in the standings.
Pep Guardiola can use all his best players, except Ilkay Gundogan, who is long term injured. On the other hand, The Hammers sold their big star Dimitri Payet to Marseille. In addition, Slaven Bilic has lots of problems with injuries. Cheikhou Kouyate, Arthur Masuaku, Alvaro Arbeloa, Diafra Sakho, Gokhan Tore, Andre Ayew, Angelo Ogbonna and Havard Nordtveit are sidelined.
However, The Hammers have recently been in a good form. They won twice in a row in The Premier League (vs. Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough). West Ham United have recorded 37 victories against The Citizens, while there have been 17 draws and 50 wins for Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s team has won 10 of the last 15 matches between these two teams!
The last time West Ham played Man City at home was in the 3rd round of The FA Cup and the Skyblues smashed Slaven Bilic’s team 5-0! In the first league match of the season between these two teams, Manchester City won again (3-1) at The Etihad Stadium. Moreover, the Pep Guardiola’s players have won 7 of 11 away league games this season.
Sergio Aguero has now recovered from his injury and will surely start the match for Manchester City. The Argentinian forward has scored 11 goals in 16 games in The Premier League this season and is a key player for Josep Guardiola.
West Ham United’s new signings Robert Snodgrass and Jose Fonte are expected to make their debuts for The Hammers. However, they will need some time to adjust to the Hammers’ playing style.
At both ends, Manchester City are the stronger side and I am sure the Josep Guardiola’s players will win the match and will get closer to the leaders in the standings of The Premiership.
Every player is going to decide the way they play, it’s their own convenience, and they are not going to think about what is best for their teammate. Every player has his own way of playing – his own style. Pep Guardiola
