West Ham United vs. Tottenham Hotspur | The Preview
The Hammers are on a run of 3 consecutive draws in The Premier League. Two of these matches finished goalless (vs. Everton and Stoke City). This goes to show the Slaven BIlic’s players have improved a lot their performance in defence. On the other hand, they struggle when they need to score goals.
The game against Tottenham is going to be extremely difficult for The Hammers, because The Spurs are fighting for the title in The Premier League. The Mauricio Pochettino’s players have collected 77 points this season, which is a record for them in the Premier League era. The Spurs still have a chance to lift the trophy, but they will need to melt the distance of 4 points.
Spurs recorded a vital 2-0 victory against Arsenal last Sunday. Tottenham Hotspur showed an incredible performance against The Gunners and totally deserved to take the three points. They controlled the pace of the game and managed to open the score in the 55th minute when Dele Alli found the net. 3 minutes later Harry Kane scored from the penalty spot to secure the three points for his team.
That was the 9th consecutive victory for Tottenham in The Premiership! With 4 matches to go, they are 4 points behind Chelsea, but The Spurs have better goal difference. However, everything different from a Tottenham’s victory in the next game will mean the end of Spurs’ ambitions for the title.
The young talent Harry Winks is suffering from a knee injury. The other omissions for Tottenham are Erik Lamela (hip injury) and Danny Rose (knee injury). On the other hand, Slaven Bilic has more problems with injuries. Andy Carroll, Diafra Sakho and Arthur Masuaku are doubtful for the game. Angelo Ogbonna (knee injury), Pedro Obiang (ankle injury) and Michail Antonio (hamstring injury) will be sidelined.
West Ham United have recorded 39 home victories against Tottenham Hotspur. However, the strengths have been very equal, as The Spurs have won 34 away games against The Hammers. There have also been 26 draws.
The Spurs have performed better when playing at home against West Ham, but I recommend you place a bet on Tottenham’s victory!
I am very proud! The players gave their best. They were fantastic. To be above Arsenal for the first time in 22 years is great for our fans. It’s also fantastic for us, because we want to win the title. We were the better team (against Arsenal). Mauricio Pochettino
